1965 Shelby Daytona Factory Five

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this Factory Five Type 65 Coupe, a replica of the legendary Shelby Daytona. This is a two-owner car that was assembled by a professional fabricator in Georgia and painted by Worship One Customs in Charlotte; it looks stunning clad in black with white racing stripes, and the finish quality is very nice. The rear lexan hatch has been upgraded to tempered glass with a tint applied.

This example has won several awards, including "Best Coupe" at the 2014 Factory Five Open House. It was featured in the Sept. 2014 issue of Road & Track. The quality of both the components and the build itself are unparalleled, and it's certainly one of the nicest Daytona replicas we have seen. The car's first owner enjoyed it for 17,000 miles; he sold it to a friend and fellow enthusiast in 2015 who has added 3,000 miles over the last five years.

The interior shows well and feels nicely finished with Kirkey Vintage low-back seats and two quick-release steering wheels (a period wooden Cobra wheel for street/show and a leather-wrapped FFR wheel for the track). Crow Enterprises five-point harness with cam-lock buckles, cold A/C that actually works well and two 12-volt power ports.

Under the hood is a 422 cubic inch Windsor stroker built by Southern Automotive, the Southeast's premier Ford engine builder. With solid lifters, a Holley 770 Street Avenger carb, headers and Raptor sidepipes, it's making 362 horsepower at the wheels. Tremec TKO 3550 gearbox with .68 overdrive; 3.73 rear axle. Independent rear suspension. Aluminum radiator, 15-gallon fuel cell, Wilwood brakes. PSE 17-inch wheels with new Nittos. In other words, only the best and most desirable components and upgrades.

It's a very well-documented build with a stack of records two inches thick including all receipts (exceeding $100k), engine specs, dyno sheet, etc. Street legal with working lights, horn, wipers, etc. and currently registered in Georgia as a 1965 Shelby; also includes factory MSO.

As breathtakingly fast as it is beautiful, this coupe certainly could not be built for anything close to the asking price. For more information about this Factory Five Type 65 Shelby Daytona coupe for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, please call 404-692-5250.
