Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this charming 1968 Fiat 1100R sedan, finished in Celeste Scuro (dark blue) over tan interior. The current owner, an Italian gentleman and car enthusiast here in Atlanta, purchased and imported this Fiat in 2017 from Ferraro Vintage Cars in Naples. He was already bringing over a Lancia Fulvia and a Mini Innocenti long owned by his family, so he sought out a third car to fill up the shipping container. He and his wife are moving to be closer to their grandchildren and will have fewer garage spaces in their new home -- so this Fiat is being offered for sale at his landed cost.
The car was repainted once in the correct color to a nice standard about five years ago. Bumpers and trim are original and show very light patina, but are quite presentable. Body is straight and solid. Original floors with no known rust. Original interior has held up quite well -- there are no holes or tears in the tan vinyl seat upholstery, door panels are excellent, headliner is very clean, gauges are clear and working. All lights, wipers, etc. are working -- including the manual wiper washer pump.
Under the hood is a 1098cc I4 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The engine compartment is tidy and correct, complete with the original Weber Bologna carburetor and original air cleaner. Despite its modest power output, the car is surprisingly fun to drive thanks to its small size and light weight -- it feels faster than a Volkswagen Beetle from the same era and way more "put together" than other compact city cars from the 1950s and 60s. Runs and drives well and the steering, brakes, clutch and gearbox all feel great.
This Fiat presents as a very honest and unmolested example. It's in turn-key condition and ready for its next owner to enjoy.
