1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa, which we are selling on behalf of the estate of its long-term owner who purchased the car in 2003. Clean CarFax with no accidents; mostly original paint (both front fenders have been repainted, but we do not know why or when -- hood, bumpers, doors and the rear of the car are in original paint so we don't believe the car has ever been hit). No known rust issues. Nice Fuchs are wearing new Michelins. Paint on the Targa bar has slightly faded but the Targa top and seals are in good original condition.
Interior is in good original condition with an excellent crack-free and un-warped dash; seats show minor patina but no major wear or damage. All gauges are working (including the clock) except for the oil level gauge. Records indicate a new A/C compressor and conversion to R134a a few years ago, but the A/C is presently inop.
Service book is stamped through 1990 and 51k miles; records indicate a replacement engine was installed in 2005 at 86k miles. At the same time the transmission was rebuilt, along with a new clutch, oil cooler and lines, plus a suspension and brake refresh (all at a cost of over $17,000).
The 3.2 runs strong and smooth and the gearbox feels good with no crunchy synchros (performance is consistent with what you expect on a car with only 3,000 miles since a major overhaul). Jack, tools, books, records and a non-factory air pump are included with the sale.
