1966 Ford F100

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1966 Ford F100 pickup truck. The mid-1960s F-series are among this writer's favorites, thanks to the Twin I-Beam front suspension (a nice upgrade from the previous solid axle design) and the introduction of the 352 cubic inch V8, the first Ford truck that made over 200 hp (gross).

Built at the Michigan truck plant for the Atlanta DSO, this truck has been in Atlanta its entire life. After nearly thee decades of faithful service, the original owner commissioned a full restoration in the mid-1990s; the current owner was a friend of the original owner and acquired the truck in the early 2000s. It has always been garaged since the restoration and driven sparingly. More than 100 photos document the restoration, which involved a bare-metal repaint, renewed interior and overhauled drivetrain. Panels are straight with good gaps; chrome and glass are nice. Excellent finish quality with no bubbles or lifting paint, even 25 year on. Bed interior has been rhino-lined.

Under the hood is the correct Y-code 352 ci V8 mated to a three-speed column shift manual. Starts, runs and drives well. Still feels tight and "put together" as we estimate only around 10,000 miles on the restoration. Only deviation from stock is the addition of A/C, which features a modern Sanden-style rotary compressor under the hood and a custom-fabricated evaporator/blower unit in the cab.
