1970 Porsche 914-6 GT
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1970 Porsche 914-6 GT replica. This 914 is finished in Signal Orange over black interior. It started life as a 1.7 liter car and was converted to a 6GT in the 1970s by the Venice Beach Boys in Southern California -- a well known Porsche shop. It received factory steel flares (they were still available then) fiberglass bumpers, five-lug conversion, oil tank, bulkhead engine mount and a 2.0 6-cylinder at that time.
Over the years it has been upgraded and is currently running a Motronic 3.2 liter with SC front suspension, 944 Turbo front brakes, 22mm torsion bars, 22mm sway bar, SC rear calipers, Bilstein shocks, 350lb springs and 8x15-inch Fuchs. The engine was rebuilt less than 15,000 miles ago and received Raceware rod bolts, bearings, valve job, balanced rotating assembly, etc. It is running a Cyntec custom DME chip. Recent good compression and leakdown numbers are available.
The 901 gearbox was rebuilt under prior ownership and feels good; it has a Quaife limited slip, custom axles and a Kennedy clutch assembly. A front mounted 20” oil cooler with a Turbotrol thermostat is fitted. The interior has a correct 914-6 dash and steering column along with a bolt-in roll bar with removable “Petty bar.”
This 914 was built as a dual purpose street / track car and has always remained street legal with registrations in California, Maryland, South Carolina and North Carolina. It has a known history dating back decades and has been with long-term enthusiast owners over the years.
Recent service has included oil and transmission fluid changes, spark plugs, shift rod bushings, valve adjustment and a Dansk muffler among various other items. Some rust in the hell hole was professionally repaired under prior ownership and the body and chassis are straight and rust free. This is one of the most fun, raw, engaging and balanced cars we have driven in a while -- not to mention that it's light and fast, weighing in at around 2300 lbs. A number of spares along with service records and original owners manual are included.
