1976 BMW 2002

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1976 BMW 2002. This '02 is a "sport-purpose" build that has been with its current Georgia owner for a decade; he has enjoyed this car regularly for touring events and road rallies. It's fast, nimble and stiffer than stock but remains quite streetable -- it could be daily driven if one chooses. Finished in BMW Laguna Seca Blue as found on the E46 M3 plus fender flares, a big front spoiler, driving lights and a color-matched fiberglass rear bumper. The body is straight and the paint has a nice shine, but it is short of show quality and has a few minor flaws from use. The interior is finished in black vinyl and grey suede with Recaro sport seats and a recently replaced very nice dash -- supplemental gauges are installed on a custom center console along with a radio. A laser-shifter system is fitted with the control unit on the dash.

For as good as this one looks, it's even better to drive -- the M10 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine retains stock internals but breathes better with a Weber 36/36 carburetor, headers and sport exhaust. The engine has had recent re-seal work and regular servicing and valve adjustments. A five-speed gearbox is fitted. Suspension upgrades include Bilstien sport dampers, sport springs, fat sway bars, newer steering linkage, gearbox and ball joints. 15-inch basketweave wheels are wearing sticky Dunlop tires. It has also benefitted from an aluminum radiator with an electric fan, stainless brake lines and poly motor mounts. An auxiliary fuel tank is installed in the trunk; it gravity feeds to the main tank via a solenoid valve allowing for long runs without stopping to refuel. The body and undercarriage are mostly rust free -- there are some pinholes in the driver's front floor pan but the frame rails, rockers, pedal box and spare tire well all look good and original.

If you are in the market for a well-sorted 2002 that has proven to be fast and reliable for extended touring and spirited driving, put this one on your short list. For more information about this 1976 BMW 2002 for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, please call 404-692-5250.
