1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Turbo Convertible
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Convertible, restored to an exacting standard by a former chairman of the Corvair Society of America's National Concours. Presented in the attractive original color of Sierra Tan metallic, this is an unusually well-optioned car with the rare and desirable 180 hp turbocharged flat-six (only around three percent of 1965 Corvairs got the turbo -- even fewer were Corsa turbo convertibles optioned like this).
In addition to a styling update, Chevrolet revamped the Corvair suspension in 1965 for considerable improvements in handling over the first-gen cars. The Corsa was the top-of-the-line sport model model in 65 and 66 which came standard with full instrumentation, a silver rear cove, and special pinstriping.
This example is fitted with the 180 hp turbocharged flat six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with positraction rear end; additional drivetrain options include the rare factory heavy-duty oil-bath air cleaner and heavy-duty shocks and springs. Comfort, safety and appearance options include a power top, telescoping steering wheel, deluxe front and rear seat belts with front retractors, headrests, padded dash, soft-ray tinted glass, push-button AM/FM radio with three-knob stereo multiplex, tissue holder and wire wheel covers.
With approximately 5,000 miles on the restoration (which included a full engine overhaul by a known Corvair specialist), this car still looks and drives as it did when new. Judged 96 out of 100 in the CORSA Senior Division a few years ago. Owner's books, hang tags, period advertisement, service records and original protect-o-plate included Easily the nicest and best-optioned Corvair we've seen.
