1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL Roadster

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this charming and very original 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL roadster. This early-production R107 is finished in Horizon Blue with dark blue leather upholstery and a dark blue canvas top. This is a correct and unmolested example with long-term ownership history and an extensive service file.

It was enjoyed as a second car by a lady owner in Florida for over two decades before coming to Atlanta in 2009; it has been garage kept but driven regularly under the current enthusiast owner's care. Mileage is right at 136k and believed to be original. One older repaint to a nice standard in the correct color which still shows well. Nice bumpers, trim, rubbers and glass. The canvas soft top and tires are fewer than two years old -- and of course the matching hardtop is included.

The interior is mostly original; the seats were reupholstered in correct leather a few years ago and remain in nice condition with only some wear on the outer piping. The Becker Europa stereo works, the A/C blows cold and the coco mats are a nice touch.

The 4.5 liter overhead cam V8 was rebuilt in 1998 at 105k miles and the transmission was overhauled in 2014 (there are stacks of receipts for other service and repair dating from 1985). Recent service has included belts, cold start injector, valve cover gaskets, trunk seal, shifter bushings, power window switches, correct wiper blades and a new Hirschmann antenna.

Owner's manual, tool roll, jack, spare tire, factory keys, data card and more than 30 years of service records are included with the sale. This is a lovely car for top-down motoring -- it features the ample power and surefooted handling of all 107s but retains the proper vintage look with small bumpers and body-color wheel covers as the designers intended.
