1957 Heinkel Kabine Microcar

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1957 Heinkel Kabine Type 154 Microcar. This Heinkel was imported from Germany in 2015 and is now offered for sale for the first time in the United States; it's part of the famed Bruce Weiner Microcar collection. We believe it to be the only one currently available for purchase in the U.S.

The Heinkel was the product of aircraft designer Ernst Heinkel -- after viewing the Isetta, he set out to build a lighter and faster competitor which he did with the Type 150. That design morphed into the 153 (three wheel) and 154 (four wheel), which is offered here (production continued in the U.K. under license as the Trojan 200 through 1966). Powered by a single-cylinder 198cc four-stroke engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission, it does have a reverse gear unlike some of its competitors. The design is timeless and features that quintessential “bubble car” styling.

This example shows to a nice standard inside and out with an attractive finish in metallic blue-silver. It runs well (see video), starts easily and is fun to drive. Charming plaid interior, good gaps and glass and an overall well-cared-for feel. Current Georgia registration and original German registration/title (kraftfahrzeugbrief).
