1969 Jaguar E-Type Coupe

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1969 Jaguar XKE coupe. This E-type is an excellent driver with superb mechanicals and desirable air conditioning, showing 62,000 miles. It has been with the same enthusiast owner for five years here in Atlanta and has seen an extensive recent mechanical freshening by a marque specialist. The paint and body show to a nice driver standard and the trim and chrome are in good original condition; the original interior has held up well with some wear, mainly on the leather seating surfaces -- it feels broken in without being shabby. The overall feel is honest and unmolested with just enough patina that one would not be afraid of extended touring use.

The current owner has done just that, putting about 5,000 miles on the car on several road trips through the southeast. This Jaguar has proved quite reliable thanks to a complete drivetrain overhaul with some choice upgrades. Engine rebuilt including three-angle valve job, Isky XM-2 grind cams, triple carb setup with early-style manifold, electronic ignition, new motor and transmission mounts, cooling system overhaul and spin-on oil filter conversion. Four-speed manaul gearbox was also rebuilt with new synchros and new clutch (and hydraulics). Full suspension and brake service including ball joints; new Vredestein tires. A/C system fully overhauled, and more. A detailed “spec sheet” with pertinent part numbers is available.

Ask any Jag enthusiast and you'll hear that although a Series I car may have a slight edge in the pure design details, a Series II car is the one to get if you actually want to drive it. We've driven countless E-types but can't remember one that drives better than this car. It is truly quick even by modern standards with confident handling, excellent brakes and an overall “put-together” feel that is often lacking even in “restored” examples. If you are looking for a coupe to drive you will be hard pressed to find a better example.
