1972 Pinzgauer 710M

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1972 Steyr-Daimler-Puch Pinzgauer 710M. This will be the third Pinzgauer we've sold, and every time we list one we're reminded just how cool they are -- smaller, more maneuverable, and less expensive than a Unimog, yet nearly unstoppable on or off road. Think of it as a more svelte HMMWV designed for the Swiss alps (indeed the initial orders were for the Austrian and Swiss militaries for use as non-tactical, high-mobility, utility vehicles).

This Pinzgauer presents to a driver standard cosmetically, and it runs and drives well (see video). Presently fitted with a half-cab hard top and open rear bed with a rack that can hold four long guns (the firearms pictured are NOT included). As a 710M, this was originally a troop carrier fitted with a soft top and jump seats to accommodate four passengers along each side (for a total of 10 -- eight in the back and two up front). The original jump seats and soft top frame are included with the sale but need to be restored. BF Goodrich mud terrain tires have nearly full tread remaining and no dry rot.

Portal axles assure excellent ground clearance, and locking front, center and rear differentials provide traction on nearly any surface. Power is suppled by an air-cooled four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission via a two-range transfer case.

This Pinz would be right at home on a farm or hunting preserve; it's street legal, titled, and cheaper than a fancy new gator or side-by-side (not to mention a heck of a lot more interesting).
