1970 Chevrolet Corvette
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1970 Chevrolet Corvette, a two-owner car with 77,000 documented original miles. Our client, the current owner, bought this C3 in 1975 -- he has enjoyed it as a nice weather weekend driver. Optioned with a 350 cubic inch V8 rated at 350 horsepower (thanks to an 11:1 compression ratio), making it one of the most potent small blocks of its era. Mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a 4.11 rear axle, this car feels very quick, even by modern standards. 1970 was the last year of the high compression engines -- the advent of unleaded fuel and more stringent emissions requirements led to power reductions across the Corvette line starting in 1971 and continuing downhill for several years.
The owner commissioned a high-quality repaint in the original color of Marlboro Maroon in 1992, along with new interior. It has been garage kept and driven sparingly since. Excellent fiberglass, paint, trim and glass. Saddle interior still presents very nicely, as well -- dash, door panels, seats and interior trim are all in good condition. All gauges, lights and fiber-optic indicators are working properly. This is a sharp car inside and out presented in attractive and not often seen colors -- the aluminum slot mags are a nice period touch.
This Corvette starts easily and runs and drives well -- both the engine and transmission are the original, numbers-matching components. It has been fastidiously maintained throughout its life and comes with more than 30 years of service records. It would make a welcome addition to any collector -- especially one who values long-term ownership history and correct, unmolested cars.
