1962 Jaguar Mark II
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this gorgeous 1962 Jaguar Mark 2 saloon. This Mk II is finished in correct Opalescent Dark Blue over red leather interior and is powered by a numbers-matching 3.8 Liter DOHC XK inline six. It has been in the same family for over 12 years; the father of the current owner purchased it from a Jaguar dealer in Portland, Oregon (the same dealer where it was sold new in 1962). Notable improvements under current ownership (at a cost of over $24,000) have included the professional installation of a GM 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission, re-chromed bumpers, stainless exhaust, tires, tubes, alignment, interior insulation, suspension, brake and steering overhaul (with Koni dampers), pertronix electronic ignition, negative ground conversion, electric cooling fan, new heater core and more.
The included Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate confirms a manufacture date or December 15th 1961, correct color combination and numbers matching engine. This Mk 2 shows to a nice driver standard throughout with quality paintwork, nice chrome and trim, excellent wire wheels, only light creasing on soft leather surfaces, attractive wood and excellent headliner.
The body is very straight with no evidence of corrosion or prior repair underneath. The 3.8 starts easily and makes good power; the modern GM four-speed automatic is a huge upgrade over the original Borg Warner three-speed. This is an excellent example for extended touring events or local shows. Extensive service records, trust certificate, complete tool kit, knock off hammer and matching spare are included.
