1991 Porsche 911 Turbo

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo, a no-expense-spared custom build running the very same Andial 3.8 Turbo that powered Jeff Zwart's 964 to win the 1994 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb open class championship. Presented in the stunning shade of pastel blue, this passion project started life as a factory 964 turbo but has been transformed both cosmetically and mechanically into the lightweight, high-horsepower hotrod you see here.

The factory turbo widebody was retained with the addition of a custom rear ducktail and custom 935-style Forgeline centerlock wheels (the wheels are dark bronze with matte black lips). Sunroof and drip rails were deleted for a cleaner look and more interior headroom. Custom side mirrors are mounted to the front quarter glass on the doors. HID headlights. The individual changes are subtle, but taken as a whole, there's no doubt this is one of the most eye-catching (and awe-inspiring) 911s we've had the pleasure to drive.

Performance is nothing short of breathtaking thanks to the 600-horsepower Andial 3.8 liter turbo built on an ultra-rare 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 case. And now for some history on how this special engine came to be installed in this special car: in 1994, Jeff Zwart partnered with Anidal Motorsports in an attempt to win the Pikes Peak hill climb. Zwart supplied the 964 chassis while Andial supplied the engine. They were victorious with this combination (and indeed, Zwart has won several hill climbs since). After the win in '94, Andial got this engine back and sold it the next year to Brumos Racing in Jacksonville (Brumos intended to build a Pikes Peak Porsche of its own). After much consideration, Brumos decided to focus on its sports car racing program and never built the Pikes Peak car. This engine sat in the Brumos Racing Department's inventory until the current owner was given the opportunity to purchase it in 2009.

Prior to being installed in the car being offered here, this engine received a thorough "going through" and a modern Garrett ball bearing turbo was added to replace the Porsche 962 turbo that was previously installed. Further tuning was done to insure a smooth and powerful, yet streetable engine. We believe it to be among highest horsepower and torque Porsche CIS air-cooled engines ever built. Transmission is the ultra strong G50/52 five-speed that's good to 750 HP. Custom GT2 clutch. Although not for the faint of heart, the gearbox, clutch, chassis, brakes and tires can easily handle the power.

Interior is sleek and simple with a host of RS-style design choices (door panels, rear seat delete, carpets, manual windows, etc). To further reduce weight, the A/C and heat were removed. Heated seats were added for lightweight warmth, and lightweight electrically-powered aftermarket A/C systems are available for this car if the next owner is in a warm climate. Vintage Abarth steering wheel like the 1967 911R plus a Heuer Monte Carlo rally stopwatch are additional vintage racing touches. In place of the factory clock is a PLX gauge to display boost, fuel pressure and AFR. Rothsport Racing Golden Rod shifting system feels tight, smooth and communicative, just like the rest of the car.

Affectionately known as the Blue Monster, this 911 is well known in the Porsche community has been been featured on Matt Farah's "The Smoking Tire" YouTube channel and on the cover of "Ultimate Porsche" magazine. It has completed several 1,000 mile rallies and is easy and comfortable to drive at low to moderate speeds -- and truly hair raising at full throttle at higher RPM when the boost comes on fast and hard.

This 964 Turbo is a one-of-a-kind build with lots of special details (and incredible performance to match the looks) that would make any discerning enthusiast happy to own it. For more information about this 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, please call 404-692-5250.
