1974 Porsche 911 Targa

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1974 Porsche 911 Targa, a remarkably original example out of long-term storage and in need of a straightforward restoration. The car is complete and without significant rust issues. Finished in code 936 silver metallic over blue interior, it will be stunning when complete. No evidence of accident damage and we do not believe this car has ever been taken apart -- straight panels with excellent gaps and door fitment. Good original glass, lenses, trim plus nice cookie cutters (tires hold air but are older and due for replacement). Torsion bar areas, rockers, floors and front pan all appear original and solid.

Interior is a little tired but complete, with original seats, door panels, carpets, steering wheel, shift knob and Blaupunkt AM radio. Aside from the driver's seat bottom, most of the interior presents well enough to clean up and retain as-is. Targa top frame is in good condition but needs to be re-covered.

The 2.7 liter flat six is not running -- we do not have any maintenance records and we do not know when it last ran. However, it turns freely by hand through a complete revolution and was updated at some point with Carrera timing chain tensioners. While we do not have COA, based on the engine serial number we believe it to be the original, numbers-matching unit. Shift linkage and gearbox feel fine at rest, but we cannot comment on the state of the synchros since we have not driven the car. Brake hydraulics similarly feel fine.

Rare opportunity to get into a narrow-body 911 restoration project at an attractive price point that's not rusted out or beat up or missing hard-to-find parts. For more information about this 1974 Porsche 911 Targa for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, please call 404-692-5250.
