1971 Citroen D Special

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1971 Citroën D Spécial. The D Spécial debuted in 1970 as a replacement for the ID19 and while slightly less luxurious and tech-heavy than the DS range, it embodies all that we love about these cars -- fabulous style and a host of drivetrain innovations.

This example was sold new through Roger Sagner's Motor Mart Ltd in Portland, Oregon to a physician in Washington. It appears to have stayed in Washington and Idaho for nearly 50 years until being acquired by our client in Maryland two years ago. This is an attractive, honest example with a previous repaint in beige to a good standard and a nicely reupholstered interior. The body and underside are very straight and rust free.

Powered by Citroën's 1985cc 4-cylinder mated to a 4-speed column shift manual transmission. The innovative hydropneumatic suspension raises and lowers properly and we found it to be very comfortable and composed on the road. Recent service has included fuel tank refurbishment, fuel pump, carburetor work and tires. A number of books, original service book, shop manual and original marketing brochures are included.
