1960 Imperial Crown Sedan

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1960 Imperial Sedan. In the mid 1950s Chrysler corporation spun off the Imperial nameplate into its own brand -- the Imperial name had long been used to designate Chrysler's top offerings but it was now aligned to better compete with Cadillac and Lincoln. They were big, powerful, flashy and loaded with features. For 1960 Virgil Exner redesigned the Imperial -- it got huge fins and wild styling unlike anything on the road.

This example is finished black over grey and blue interior. It's powered by Chrysler's 413 cubic inch "wedge" V8 mated to a three-speed push-button TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Optioned with power seat, power windows and air conditioning. This car spent time in North Carolina before coming to Georgia where it has been with the previous two owners for many years.

While the interior was reupholstered a few years ago, the exterior is in unrestored condition and some rust is present in the hood, door bottoms and rockers. The underside and floors are in good original condition.

This Imperial starts easily and runs and drives well -- we have had it at highway speeds and it's smooth and comfortable. Newer whitewall tires are fitted on factory 15-inch wheels with correct hubcaps. A number of spare parts are in the trunk including two factory radios. The A/C system is intact and was converted to R134a in 2009 however it needs to be serviced as it is no longer cold. An excellent candidate for restoration or drive as is and have the coolest car on the block for less money than a worn out Corolla.
