1948 Ford "Woody" Super Deluxe Station Wagon
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon. This Woody is in excellent restored condition both cosmetically and mechanically and is ready for touring or shows. The steel body parts are finished in Tuscon Tan and the rest is, well, wood. Clearly garage kept with excellent finish quality on both the wood and steel surfaces; glass, trim and rubber bits are likewise in good shape. No evidence of UV or water damage, and no known rust or rot. Period-correct Coker Classic whitewall bias ply tires on factory steel wheels with hubcaps. You can't pass anybody without getting waves and smiles in this thing.
Interior presents beautifully with excellent interior wood, faux wood painted dash (with restored gauges), headliner with gorgeous exposed ribs, nice steering wheel, and as-new seat upholstery, door and window hardware, and rubber floor covering. Doors sturdy with good fitment. The picnic accessories shown in the photo are included with the sale.
Under the hood is Ford's venerable flathead V8 fed by a single-barrel carburetor and mated to a three-speed column-shift manual (with an electric overdrive in the rear end). This Woody starts easily and runs and drives well (and seats seven adults). Iconic and collectible, the 1948 station wagon was Ford's last wooden bodied car and the last made during Henry Ford's lifetime.
